In yet another Natus Vincere (NAVI) rooster shake up, Pavel “9pasha” Khvastunov was placed on an inactive status along with two other members of the team earlier this week. He spent one year with the Ukrainian organization, which he joined in the post TI9 shuffle.
Back when he joined, the NAVI roster looked completely different from the one today. In an interview with Maria “Mrs.Marple” Yermolina, done right after the NAVI announcement from this past Friday, 9Pasha calls the initial roster an “experiment that obviously was unsuccessful.” He also mentions that the left Virtus.pro after TI9 especially for that “experimental” NAVI lineup and more so, to play alongside Akbar “SoNNeikO” Butaev and Bakyt “Zayac” Emilzhanov.
“I joined a certain lineup, a good lineup. I liked everything about it. I went to NAVI exclusively for SoNNeikO and Zayac,” he said to Mrs. Maple explaining that their removal from the roster was due to internal conflicts.
9Pasha recalls that only about one month after the roster was signed, the team was already at a “crossroad” and a decision had to be made as the majority of the team members did not like SoNNeikO. “It was necessary to decide: either one part of the conflict is kicked or the other,” he mentioned.
He also emphasized that although SoNNeiKoO and Zayac were removed, they were “far from the weakest links. They were reliable players who understood Dota,” 9Pasha said, adding that after those changes were made to the roster, it became pretty clear for him that sooner or later he would give up.
