A Chinese Dota 2 league has been formed as COVID-19 continues to spread globally

Amidst the current outbreak of the COVID-19 situation, there
are many events in Dota 2 that are popping up to give the teams a chance to
play – including an announcement of the Chinese DOTA2 Professional Association.

Announced via the Invictus Gaming Weibo, the Chinese DOTA2 Professional
Association (CDA) will be working with eight teams from the region to arrange league
tournaments to fill the time between the cancelled Dota 2 Pro Circuit and its
possible return. These tournaments will be held online, to avoid the risks of
spreading the virus – keeping teams, players and staff away from contact with
one another. The eight teams from the region which will be involved in the
league will be some of the biggest and best from China:

  • Vici Gaming
  • PSG.LGD
  • Invictus Gaming
  • Team Aster
  • Royal Never Give Up
  • Keen Gaming
  • Newbee
  • EHOME

While very little is currently known about the dates and times for this league, it is sure to kick off quite soon, as the teams do not have any DPC events or qualifiers to move on to at this current moment in time. The translation of the Weibo post above continues to state that the format and streaming website of this evet will be announced at a later stage, meaning that we will be able to catch all the action – hopefully on an easy-to-access platform, with the last line reading,

Finally, the online tournament this time will be fully open for streaming but the details, such as tournament format system, bonus system and streaming URL will be announced later. Hope this online tournament accompanies you throughout the hard times we are going through and hopefully the whole world can conquer the disease and get things back on track ASAP.”

Currently, the effects of COVID-19 are being felt worldwide
in the esports industry but organizations such as WePlay! and Rivalry have
arranged events to keep us entertained. Rivalry have a South American
tournament ongoing at time of writing, while WePlay! have arranged the WeSave!
Charity Play event, which features multiple teams from around the globe and is
set to kick off on Friday, March 20th, 2020.
