Alex “ALEX” McMeekin is looking to step down from Vitality according to a report from 1pvr.fr. ALEX has been a member of Vitality since December 2018 when he joined in place of Vincent “Happy” Schopenhauer in the Vitality lineup.
Serving as the squad’s in-game leader alongside Nathan “NBK” Schmitt, ALEX helped guide the majority French lineup to several top finishes. Things haven’t been as peachy since, however, with the team dropping through the rankings to spot they sit now, ninth place. At their peak, Vitality was the No. 2 team in the world via HLTV’s rankings.
A recently less than successful run at BLAST Premier Spring Series 2020 will see the team needing to come out on top of the BLAST Premier Showdown to earn a spot in the main event. In addition, they went out in 9th-12th place at IEM Katowice, the latest event they attended.
According to the report, ALEX made the choice to step down and cited “personal reasons” which included a desire to avoid the travel of the upcoming busy season in terms of events.
Ali “hAdji” Haïnouss is currently being targeted as the squads replacement for ALEX the report states. hAdji is currently a member of LDLC. hAdji has been floating around the tier 2 scene for some time, his one break to tier 1 was in 2018 under EnVy, but things didn’t go so well.
Should this move go through, he’ll have another chance to prove himself on the big stage so long as Vitality can keep their spot there (and with Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut it seems likely).
Expected Vitality CS:GO roster:
-Dan “apEX” Madesclaire
-Cédric “RpK” Guipouy
-Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut
-Richard “shox” Papillon
-Ali “hAdji” Haïnouss
