Anti-Mage antics as Geek Fam push forward into the lower bracket finals

After fantastic upper bracket final, we moved into the lower bracket on the penultimate day of ONE Esports Dota 2 Southeast Asia League where either Geek Fam or T1 would see their tournament come to an end.

Since the playoff stage of ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League begun, only one series has ended with only two of the three games played – with the rest all going the full distance. Today was no different as Geek Fam could not repeat their 2-0 performance over T1 from the group stage. GF could have easily won the first game of the series, had Galvin Kang ‘Meracle’ Jian Wen not been on an absolutely unstoppable Anti-Mage, which tore down the GF lineup and secured an opening win for T1.

With their victory, T1 decided to pick a rather unconventional Drow Ranger to go up against the Morphling and Earthshaker lineup from GF. While the game lasted over half an hour, it was essentially over within the first 15-minutes as GF destroyed the Drow and Meracle’s Broodmother, leaving T1 with absolutely no hope of making a comeback and tying the series at 1-1.

Having destroyed T1 in the previous game, GF did not let up on the pressure as they moved into the decisive game three with an Anti-Mage for Marc Polo ‘Raven’ Luis Fausto. A Phantom Assassin and a severe lack of control and lockdown from T1 was their eventual downfall as GF never gave them a chance to find a foothold.

The win will see Geek Fam move on in the lower bracket to face TNC Predator in the lower bracket final tomorrow at ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League. Unfortunately for T1, fourth place will be where their tournament ends. Tomorrow we will see the lower bracket final before the victorious team will have to fight Fnatic in the grand final to determine the champion.
