Japanese game developer Capcom has announced a partnership with American restaurant chain Arby’s.
As a result, Arby’s will sponsor the Capcom Pro Tour 2021 Season Final, a season-concluding tournament featuring Street Fighter V: Champion Edition.

The sponsorship includes multiple integrations during the event’s broadcast, which will be themed around Arby’s ‘Meat Fighter’ campaign. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The competition, which is set to take place from February 17th to 20th, concludes the Street Fighter V esports season that began in April 2021 and took place across 19 regions. According to the release, the tournament will kick off with a 5v5 exhibition team tournament featuring some of the best North American players.
The main event, which starts on February 18th, will see 31 players who qualified for this year’s Capcom Cup together with nine invited players battle it out for the $250,000 (~£183,673) prize pool. In total, 20 best-of-nine matches will be played throughout the main competition.

The Capcom Pro Tour 2021 Season Final will be broadcasted on the Capcom Fighters social media channels.
Other restaurant chains that previously ventured into esports include KFC, McDonald’s, Domino’s Pizza, Pizza Hut, Panera Bread and Buffalo Wild Wings.
Esports Insider says: Fighting Game Community (FGC) is still quite a niche esports genre, therefore to see non-endemic brands coming into the space to support FGC events is a huge positive for the genre.
