Asia, North America Overwatch League All-Star Weekends To Go On Before 2020 Grand Final

Blizzard is planning on hosting two events in Asia and North America for the traditional Overwatch League All-Stars weekend. Both events will include several formats, including a Talent Takedown, a Widowmaker 1v1 Tournament, the All-Stars Game, and numerous other game mode competitions.

The OWL 2020 All-Stars will be held over two weekends. On September 26, the first event will kick off at 1 AM PT in Asia. On October 3, the second event will get underway in North America at 12 PM PT. The livestreams for each event can be watched on the Overwatch League YouTube channel.

Forming the lineup, 42 players were selected for the Overwatch League 2020 All-Stars, including 24 in Asia, and 18 in North America. Asia’s All-Stars includes Korean players from the North American division who have had to return home. The Asia roster will feature familiar names, such as JJonak, Choihyobin, and 2020 Overwatch League MVP Fleta. The players will be led by Guangzhou Charge’s Cho “J1N” Hyo-Jin and Moon “Moon” Byung-chul.

The North America roster will include league veterans such as Super, Space, and Agilities. Philadelphia Fusion coach Kim “KDG” Dong-Gun and Florida Mayhem’s Kim “Kuki” Dae-kuk will lead the teams. The All-Stars events precede the Overwatch League Grand Finals, which are set for October 8 and 10. For the All-Stars, fans normally choose the players they want to participate. However, Blizzard has also introduced its own selections, so each team can have at least one representative.

This year, both All-Stars Games will adhere to a different format. North America will focus on a Widowmaker 1v1 Tournament and a Talent Takedown, while Asia will feature a set of challenges based on individual heroes from the game.

The first map is a standard six-vs-six, but in the second match, each team will select the opponent’s composition, with role lock applied. The third match will be set in a Control map using the Tiny Overwatch workshop mod “where all players start off with tiny character models but begin to grow in size as they do damage and healing,” according to Blizzard.
