China Dota2 Pro Cup playoffs are set, Invictus Gaming and Aster eliminated early

Two open qualifier teams have delivered quite the upsets through the group and play-in stages of China Dota2 Pro Cup Season 1. 

Both LBZS and Phoenix Gaming have secured a spot into the playoffs forcing Team Aster, Invictus Gaming, Sparking Arrow Gaming and Team MagMa to an early elimination.

LBZS delivered the biggest surprise of the tournament so far by going 4-0 in the group stage and thus claiming the top seed and an upper bracket semifinals start ahead of PSG.LGD who were in the same group with them. Aster and Invictus Gaming have also started the event in the group with LBZS but both lost 1-2 to this new competitor. However, they managed to secure a victory over Sparking Arrow Gaming to stay alive for another shot at playoffs via the play-in stage. SAG placed bottom in Group A and got eliminated with a 0-4 record.

In group B, Royal Never Give Up were unmatched and advanced into the playoffs semifinals while Vici Gaming took the second seed with two victories and two losses. Phoenix Gaming, the other open qualifier team, placed third in Group B and along with EHOME from the same group, fought for a shot at playoffs via play-in stage. The play-in matches continued to deliver the unexpected as Phoenix Gaming took down both Aster and iG to advance to the playoffs along with EHOME.

 China Dota2 Pro Cup Season 1 playoffs teams:

  •  Upper bracket semifinals round: LBZS, RNG
  • Upper bracket first round: PSG.LGD, Vici Gaming, EHOME, Phoenix Gaming

The playoffs stage is set to start tomorrow, September 26 at 10:00 CEST/16:00 PSST with the VG versus EHOME first upper bracket round followed by the PSG.LGD versus Phoenix Gaming series. The semifinals will be played Monday, September 28.
