Cloud9 closes the Dota 2 division three months after their return to the scene.
The organization made a return to Dota 2 after a two-year hiatus at the end of January 2019. Their first roster was registered in the Southeast Asian region and played for a spot at the ESL One Los Angeles Major. They failed their first big test and the roster was adjusted and moved to North America. The latest line-up to play under the white and blue colors of C9 witnessed an old times reunion with Jacky “EternaLEnVy” Mao, Johan “pieliedie” Åström and Rasmus “MISERY” Filipsen fighting to bring back the glorious days. Unfortunately, they didn’t quite achieve that.
At the recently concluded BTS Pro Series Americas, Cloud9 registered a negative 0-10 loss record, but managed to recover towards the end of the group stage matches to make the cut to the playoffs. However, they got eliminated in the first round of the lower bracket series. During their three months adventure in the Dota 2 field, Cloud9 got a top six finish at DOTA Summit 12, top 6 at BTS Pro Series Americas and a top 4 finish at the non-profit online tournament WeSave! Charity Play.
“Cloud9 is announcing today our departure from the competitive DOTA 2 circuit. Effective immediately, all members of our roster are available to be signed by other organizations,” posted the organization on their official website on April 28.
Cloud9 Team Manager, Ysabel Noukky Müller official statement:
“It was great working with these players and I want to thank them for being professional throughout and buying into our vision and company values. We’re confident that success will follow them as their careers progress.”
