Brian “Cosmos” Kalu won Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Singles at The Box: Juice Box #8 on August 5. Throughout the event, Cosmos played Corrin, his main from Smash 4. Although Corrin has seen much less use in Ultimate, the character received buffs in a recent patch.
Cosmos’ run through pools was fairly smooth, although he did drop a game to Kyle “kylzim” Zimmer. In top 64, he beat Matthew “hisoka96” Bohne 2-0, Gabriel “Epic_Gabriel” Romero 2-1, and David “LeoN” Leon 2-1. As a result, Cosmos earned a spot in top 8 on winners side.
Cosmos kicked off top 8 of Juice Box #8 with a big 3-0 win over Carlos “Sonix” Pérez. Then in Winners Finals, he defeated Aaron Wilhite 3-2. Wilhite proved to be a challenging opponent, as he beat Cosmos 3-0 in the first set of Grand Finals. However, Cosmos responded with his own 3-0 victory in the second set to win the tournament.
