CS:GO: IEM Katowice 2020 Streams Break 1 Million Viewers at Peak

Viewer numbers for IEM Katowice show great promise for CS:GO.

With the constant growth of average and peak CS:GO players counts, it’s clear the game has been gaining popularity. But this popularity is increasing in the streams of esports events too. This proved true during the grand final of IEM Katowice, where Natus Vincere took on G2 Esports.

According to stats provided by Esports Charts, IEM Katowice 2020 had 1,002,132 viewers at its peak. It became the most popular non-Major event in the history of CS:GO and set the record for IEM events.

Surprisingly IEM Katowice 2020 got more viewers than StarLadder Berlin Major 2019 and PGL Krakow Major 2017. Also, the event set the record for the Russian-language stream. More than 380k Russian-speakers viewers watched the final match during its peak.

The average viewer count was 272,877 throughout the tournament. Four out of the five most popular games were with Natus Vincere playing.
