DPL-CDA Professional League Season 2 came to an end today as
the Grand Finals would be played between Invictus Gaming and EHOME, as both
teams were looking to secure a massive victory in the event.
Following Invictus Gaming’s domination of PSG.LGD yesterday,
the team would have to fight up against Team Aster, who they had originally had
no problems with in the group stage of DPL-CDA Pro League Season 2. But after
Aster had made an amazing run through the playoffs, it was expected to be a
tough task for iG. However, continuing their brilliant path in the lower
bracket, iG destroyed Aster in two games of around half an hour each, pushing
them into a grand final matchup against the mighty EHOME.
Ever since the playoffs begun, EHOME had only dropped a
single game in any series – which was to CDEC Gaming in the upper bracket
semi-finals, but apart from that, the team were relentless in their pursuit to
regain a foothold at the top of the Chinese Dota 2 scene. Right from the start
of the grand final series, it was clear that EHOME had a point to prove as they
dominated game one, claiming a total of 42 kills in only 34-minutes. They left
iG with no chance of making their way back into the game and claimed an early series
lead.
Game two went almost exactly the same way, this time with
EHOME taking a 40-15 win in only 33-minutes as iG were struggling to find any firm
foothold in the series. EHOME’s lineups were far too strong, with Liu ‘Sylar’
Jiajun’s Spectre running rings around iG. But, with their backs against the
wall, iG finally came out with a magnificent draft to outclass EHOME and stop
the whitewash victory. This time it was EHOME who could only muster up a total of
12 kills as they struggled to find any openings to bring down their opponents
and the series moved to a game four.
While EHOME found a solid early game lead in the fourth game
in the series, iG begun to find their way back into the game quickly and it was
just after the half hour mark when they finally broke through into the lead.
However, one mistake from iG lost them their entire team, a Roshan, and the
middle lane of barracks. While iG expended multiple buybacks in their defense, EHOME
had already done the damage which would result in their victory.
With the GG call coming out after 36-minutes, EHOME would
take the series 3-1 and become the champions of the DPL-CDA Professional League
Season 2 – adding to their victory at the Season 1 iteration of the same event.
Unfortunately for iG, even after an amazing event, they would finish in second
place, with Team Aster closing out the podium in third.
