Evil Geniuses withdraw from OGA Dota PIT Online Season 2

The North and South America division of OGA Dota PIT Season 2 is set to begin next week, on the 16th of July, however, the initial team line-up suffered a slight change after Evil Geniuses decided to drop out of the competition.

The North American organization didn’t make any official comments regarding the decision, but VPEsports confirmed with the tournament organizers, One Game Agency, that EG’s place will be taken by 4 Zoomers. While for some of the lower tier teams, the switch to online only competition format was a blessing, for some of the best teams in the world, and especially for those with players from different regions, like Evil Geniuses, the pandemic hit extremely hard. Ever since the ESL One Los Angeles Major got cancelled back in March, and all tournaments had to put a hold on all their offline events, EG struggled to keep the pace as four of their players are actually not located in the US and have to play on NA servers with high latency. Trying to minimize the damage, EG tried over the past couple of months to bring different stand-ins and never even attempted to play official games with Abed Yusop, located in the Philippines, nor with Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev, who is at home in Russia.

EG’s online experience started with two titles claimed in March and April at ESL One Los Angeles Online and at BTS Pro Series: Americas Season 1, but continued with the proverbial third place finishers over the last month.

In the meantime, the former Digital Chaos, dropped by the organization when the pandemic hit, and rebranded to Quincy Crew took the NA scene by storm. Alongside them, 4 Zoomers, a stack featuring  Nico “Gunnar” Lopez, Jaron “monkeys-forever” Clinton and Samuel “Sammyboy” Anderson, has also started to make waves. Most recently, at the end of June, they pushed Quincy Crew to a decisive game five for the tile of BTS Pro Series: Americas Season 2. They lost the grand finals 2-3 to CCnC and co, but they will definitely look to take revenge starting next week at OGA Dota PIT Online.

The tournament will feature a total of eight squads, four representing North America, and four from the NA, fighting for supremacy in a double elimination bracket.

OGA Dota PIT participating teams:

  • Quincy Crew
  • 4 Zoomers
  • business associates
  • CR4ZY
  • Thunder Predator
  • beastcoast
  • Midas Club
