A month after OG split ways with OG.Seed, the roster announced its full disbandment as some of the team members were offered by other teams.
The announcement was made by OG.Seed captain Petu “Peksu” Vaatainen, who mentioned that all players break up on good terms and are grateful for the eight months in which they got the opportunity to grow and improve as professional players under the OG guidance.
OG.Seed was formed in the months following The International 2019 as a secondary squad of the double TI champion organization, OG. It was never their intention to stay together and compete against the main team at TI10, instead, OG aimed to help the players with all the logistics needed for a line-up to make a breakout from the tier two scene. Early Spring of 2020 brought a second place at Dota Summit 12 for OG.Seed, after taking down the likes of Team Liquid, Cloud9 and Evil Geniuses. The team seemed to be ready to prove themselves against some of the best teams in the world, but the COVID-19 pandemic messed with the plan. The competitive scene switched to a full online schedule and most of the third party organizers didn’t allow the organizations to play with more than one roster in their tourneys. More often than not, OG.Seed had to stay on the sideline as OG was receiving the direct invites. They continued to grind through lower tier online events, until eventually OG and OG.Seed mutually decided to cut ties at the beginning of June 2020 in hopes that the full Seed roster would find a new place to call home.
In the following month, instead of finding a new banner to represent with the entire line-up, only some of the players received “better offers.” No details were revealed about which players will continue their journey with another organization. For now, the former OG. Seed members announced the following on their social media accounts:
Peksu will be talking a short break from the competitive scene and will be looking to make use of his analytical mind and perhaps give himself a try as a commentator if the opportunity presents itself.
Zakari “Zfreek” Freedman announced his free agency as he looks forward to returning to the North American scene.
Rasmus Johan “Chessie” Blomdin, has packed everything and moves with his loved one from Newcastle, UK to Stockholm, Sweden to embark onto a “new adventure.”
