Fortnite: Confirmed DreamHack Duos – NA East and Europe

Which duo combinations will we see in the upcoming DreamHack Online Open?

Competitive Fortnite is on the brink of its first legitimate duos competition since the Aqua & Nyhrox Throwback Cup in July. Players campaigned DreamHack to switch the Online Open tournament format from solos to duos. After several months of solo competitions, DreamHack announced that it would follow through with the overwhelming requests for a format change. This tournament’s scoring structure, prize pool and format remain largely the same, except for some minor adjustment to accommodate duos. The hype levels increased exponentially, with top players across the NA East, NA West and European regions scrambling to secure a partner.

Some serious powerhouse teams spawned from this recent news, which should make for an outstanding return to one of Fortnite’s more popular formats. Although all of these teams are subject to change, several of them will compete in at least two of the three regions involved in the DreamHack Online Open featuring Fortnite. Each of these tandems can properly prepare after Epic Games recently re-enabled Arena Duos. Let’s take a look at some of the duos that we will see in next month’s DreamHack Duos competition.

NRG benjyfishy and 100T MrSavage lead the way for confirmed duos, considering their success over the past year. These two took third place in the Aqua & Nyhrox Throwback Cup, and are one of a fan-favorite duo. Another outstanding team – FaZe Mongraal and Liquid mitr0 – saw similar success to Benjy and Savage over time. They will give duos another serious run for the first time since Fortnite’s inaugural World Cup. Speaking of the Aqua & Nyhrox Cup, tournament winners Decyptos and Floki will look to continue their duo success in another season and a different competition.

NA East players are a bit less transparent than Europe, but several top players have confirmed their teams heading into DreamHack Duos. Based on recent history, former NA West duo Liquid Cented and NRG Edgey top the list. These two players have accomplished quite a lot in their Fortnite careers as a duo, including winning in the Aqua & Nyhrox Throwback Cup. There’s no reason to believe their success won’t carry over. Although not confirmed, we can assume Zayt and Saf will look to dominate once again in duos as they have for many years. The DreamHack Online Open could be a simple continuation of their FNCS Chapter 2 – Season 2 victory.

FaZe Clan duo – Megga and Dubs – will reunite for DreamHack as well. They recently took second place in Duos FNCS on top of their already impressive history. Fortnite World Cup Champion Bugha will pair up with illest, and that’s a duo we can get behind. Bugha is one of the most mechanically gifted players in competitive Fortnite; He will complement illest’s incredible slaying ability quite well in the DreamHack tournament.

OA Whofishy and G2 Coop have also confirmed their partnership for the DreamHack Online Open. This duo could be sneaky, considering both are insanely talented controller players who could rack up points quickly given the DreamHack scoring system. We should see other unconfirmed teams during DreamHack, including Clix and Bizzle, Kreo and Bucke and Knight and RogueShark. NA East will bring the intensity as usual with a spread of exciting teams.
