The Immortals Gaming Club has partnered with the National MS Society to help create a positive impact on the nonprofit sector. The two entities will look to use esports and gaming as a fundraising tool to help end multiple sclerosis as a disease and help others cope with the effects of MS. Right now, there are approximately 1M people in the United States who live with the disease, and there is no cure.
The partnership comes partly as a result of the National MS Society’s loss of in-person fundraisers due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Needing to address the issue of fundraising while looking in other directions, the Society was able to take a more progressive digital fundraising approach and hopes to “create a fun and accessible experience for all supporters and help the Society to be more resilient moving forward,” alongside the IGC.
As part of the partnership with the National MS Society, IGC Events will plan and host online tournaments and charity activations across multiple game titles in 2021.
The first National MS Society and IGC’s fundraising stream is set for Tuesday, Feb.16, at 8 pm EST. Major League Baseball pitcher Dane Dunning of the Texas Rangers will be joined by several other MLB players including; Lucas Giolito (Chicago White Sox), Derek Holland (Detroit Tigers), Carlos Rodon (Chicago White Sox), Alec Marsh (Kansas City Royals), Spencer Torkelson (Detroit Tigers), Sam Tuivailala (Seattle Mariners), and Tyler Clippard (Minnesota Twins). Additionally, content creators from G2 Esports will host “an evening of Rocket League,” a stream to help end MS”
The event will take place on the National MS Society Twitch channel.
