Team Liquid has defeated Evil Geniuses for the third time this season, and this time walked away $90,000 richer for doing so. The North Americans clashed in the ESL Pro League Season 11 grand finals and Keith “NAF” Markovic’s side pulled off the sweep.
The teams kicked off their match shortly after fnatic took home the European trophy over mousesports 3-2. Nick “nitr0” Cannella and company started the series with a 1-0 map advantage which would require them to only need to pick up two map wins to take the best-of-five.
Things began on Dust2 where Liquid never let EG string together more than two rounds on their way to a 10-5 lead. A still round victory would be followed by two more and put Liquid up 13-5 before EG could grab five in a row to make things competitive. From there they’d only manage one more, however, and Liquid would close things out 16-11. NAF finished the map with 104.9 average damage per round to top the leaderboards.
Vertigo would go no better in the end although EG did manage to make the first half as tight as it can be at 8-7. Down by one going into the second half, EG could only manage two more rounds before being finished and ending in second place. Map two saw Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski join NAF atop the scoreboard with 107.9 and 108.3 ADR respectively.
