With Golden Guardians doing away with their entire 2020 roster, it looks like they’ve found their botlane for 2021.
Golden Guardians look set to pick up former Counter Logic Gaming ADC Trevor “Stixxay” Hayes and Latin American support Leandro “Newbie” Marcos who currently plays for All Knights. This information comes from Travis Gafford.
These two signings would be the first for Golden Guardians for the 2021 season; after they let go of their entire roster at the start of the off-season.

So far Can “Closer” Çekik and Ian “FBI” Victor Huang, and Cho “huhi” Jae-hyun have already found new homes on 100 Thieves for 2021. There’s also rumours Tanner” Damonte” Damonte will be following the three to 100 Thieves. But no new information has surfaced. Top laner Kevin “Hauntzer” Yarnell also hasn’t officially joined a roster. However, he’s been heavily linked with both CLG and Dignitas.
With the 2021 season quickly approaching — and other rosters are filling up already — Golden Guardians don’t have time on their side when it comes to finding their two solo laners and jungler. The upside for Golden Guardians is that by waiting they can take their pick of the forgotten players and Academy players that get lost in the rush for imports. Though with Oceania joining the NA residency pool, there’s plenty of talent to choose from.
Who’s being linked to Golden Guardians?
Two names stand out so far in the rumor pool. If we ignore older links to some support players, assuming Newbie does join; Juan “Contractz” Arturo Garcia of 100 Thieves has been heavily linked. Alongside current Academy player Nicholas “Ablazeolive” Antonio Abbot. The same leak, however, did claim Golden Guardian Academy support Johnathan “Chime” Pomponio would be promoted. Which goes against the latest rumors of Newbie joining.
Travis Gafford; who also claimed Ablazeolive would play mid lane, has stated that Golden Guardians’ draft pick, top laner Aiden “Niles” Tidwell will be in the starting LCS roster. Travis also stated that Golden Guardians would likely field four rookies and one experienced player for 2021, which would go with what’s being reported here.
