The Los Angeles Gladiators part ways with main tank player Roni “LhCloudy” Tiihonen.
Less than a week after releasing multiple players and their strategic coach, the Los Angeles Gladiators are not yet done with roster moves. Today, the team is parting ways with their main tank player, Roni “LhCloudy” Tiihonen.
A complicated run in the Overwatch League
Tiihonen began his Overwatch League career with the Paris Eternal. After a disappointing season, ending at the 14th position for Paris, the team released many players – including Tiihonen. He then joined the Los Angeles Gladiators and played alongside his countrymen Jonas “Shaz” Suovaara and Benjamin “BigG00se” Isohanni.
The Los Angeles Gladiators’ journey in the Overwatch League 2020 season ended in the North American Playoffs Quarterfinals. The team lost to the Philadelphia Fusion, and then against Florida Mayhem in the losers’ bracket.
Right after their elimination from the competition, the Los Angeles Gladiators are reshaping the team for a better upcoming Overwatch League season. They released the Finnish support duo, Benjamin “BigG00se” Isohanni and Jonas “Shaz” Suovaara. Flex DPS Jason “Jaru” White and off-tank player Hyung-seok “Bischu” Kim also part ways with the Los Angeles Gladiators. Strategic coach Rohit “CurryShot” Nathani was thanked by the team soon after.
Who is still with the Los Angeles Gladiators?
As they release Roni “LhCloudy” Tiihonen, the Los Angeles Gladiators are left with only five players. Min-seok “OGE” Son and Indy “SPACE” Halpern remain the sole two tank players of the Los Angeles Gladiators. The DPS line features Overwatch League Inaugural Season Champion Ji-hyeok “birdring” Kim, as well as hitscan specialist Gia Huy “MirroR” Trịnh and rookie Kevin “kevster” Persson.
To complete their roster for the upcoming Overwatch League season, the Los Angeles Gladiators will be looking out for support players, as well as a tank player to rotate with Son and Halpern. The team will also probably look for at least one additional DPS player, so they can have a flexible team composition.
