ppd ends his retirement to play in the DOTA Summit 13: North America Open Qualifiers

Earlier this year Peter “ppd” Dager announced his retirement
from competitive Dota 2, but now it seems as though the famed player will
return once again, this time with a brand-new squad of promising talent.

In April of this year, famed winner of The International 5 with Evil Geniuses, Peter “ppd” Dager, announced that he would be retiring from the competitive Dota 2 scene after a long and fantastic career. Having played alongside Ninjas in Pyjamas for nearly two years, ppd stated in a TwitLonger post that he was “focused on personal growth rather than competition versus others”. However, today he confirmed via his Twitter account, that he would be playing with a new stack in the upcoming DOTA Summit 13 North America Open Qualifiers.

The stack, named “Throne”, features a mix of players from both
North and South America, and are seen on the FaceIt sign up for the NA open qualifiers
– alongside 15 other teams currently. The full roster for the squad is:

  • David “dnm” Cossio
  • Jose “esk” Coronel
  • Daniel “dyun” Yun
  • Noah “Boris” Minhas
  • Peter “ppd” Dager

The roster features the likes of dnm, who is an extremely young player who is at the top of the NA MMR charts currently and has previously played alongside PlusOne at the Beyond the Summit Pro Series Season 2 – the team disqualified due to match-fixing by three of their members. However, with dnm not involved in this, he now looks for a new roster to show off his talents with. Other players have also seen action alongside teams such as Team Xolotl and Black Sheep.

It will be interesting to see what this squad can do in the NA scene and if ppd’s return from retirement can push him back into the limelight of the Dota 2 scene. The NA open qualifiers for DOTA Summit 13 kick off tomorrow and ppd will be streaming the action via his Twitch channel.
