The first joint season of the Chinese Dota 2 leagues DPL and CDA kicked off its main event today with some of the finest teams in the region battling for a strong start in what is set to be a four weeks journey towards the Season 1 title and a share of the $70,000 prize pool.
The opening match-ups lacked the flavor of the month hero as Mars got banned in all games by all the teams.
Invictus Gaming versus CDEC Gaming was the very first series of the tournament and it started with a rather passive stance from both teams, given that only five kills were drawn in the first seventeen minutes of the game. iG were patiently waiting for their carry Drow Ranger to get her first big items, while on the other side of the river, CDEC were waiting for their Morphing to complete his Ethereal Blade before engaging in team fights. They had a minus armor strategy with Dazzle and Vengeful Spirit in the support roles, but both heroes were the main target for iG when they finally started the buildings assault. The game came to an end abruptly after a couple of team fights lost by CDEC. Nonetheless, they bounced back strong in game two with a carry Terrorblade, after being led in both experience and networth by iG. Still, CDEC got heavily outmaneuvered in the last game of the series by a mid lane Puck and a carry Phantom Lancer coming from Invictus Gaming.
The second and final series of the day pitted Vici Gaming against PSG.LGD, with the latter bringing into play a very efficient ganking set-up with the Void Spirit Remnant into the Shadow Demon Disruption to secure a fast paced tempo from laning stage to the end. Vici Gaming allowed PSG.LGD to go with the same set-up in game two as well and once again found themselves unable to keep their cores alive, thus losing the series 0-2.
DPL-CDA Professional League Season 1 resumes tomorrow, April 28 with Team Aster versus PSG.LGD Gaming starting at 10:00 CET/16:00 PST, followed by Royal Never Give up versus EHOME.
