SumaiL removed from OG roster. Ceb is back

In a rather unexpected turn of events, OG made roster changes days ahead of their opening series at OGA Dota PIT Season 2 and removed Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan from the team.

Without giving too many details on how the decision was made, OG thanked their former carry saying that “Sumail is one of the best players in the world, as well as a fantastic person to work with,” and wished him the best in his future adventures.

With SumaiL gone, the carry role will be taken by Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng, while the two times TI winner offlaner and the heart and soul of OG for the past four years, Sébastien “Ceb” Debs is back to active play.

Ceb started his OG story in the coach seat back in 2016 and he was the mastermind behind OG’s four Major victories. When the big OG split happened, months before TI8, Ceb stepped up and proved to be the pillar of what was about to shape as the biggest Dota 2 story so far. With him in the offlane, OG went on to become the first-ever team to win the International twice.

Right after TI9 Ceb decided to once again hang the mouse and focus on helping the team grow from behind the scenes, unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic set OG back by a lot as their players got stranded by the worldwide lockdowns in very far corners of the world from each other. With Midone and Topson in Southeast Asia and SumaiL in the US,  while having no other choice than playing online on the European servers sometimes with over 200 ping for some of their players, OG were quite far from their stellar form.

“I honestly kinda take offense in the simple fact that other teams think that they can beat us,” said Ceb on his return to the active roster adding that he missed playing competitively along with his friends.

“I actually missed them a lot. We’ve been through everything together. Every game they play in which I’m not playing felt like a waste of my time. I enjoy playing with them more than anything else,” Ceb added.

OG current roster from position 1 to 5:

  • Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng
  • Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen
  • Sébastien “Ceb” Debs
  • Martin “Saksa” Sazdov
  • Johan “N0tail” Sundstein

OG’s debut with Ceb back in the offlane will be made next week in the Europe and CIS Division of OGA Dota PIT Online Season 2. The tournament starts on the 27th of July with eight teams fighting in a double elimination bracket with $170,000 on the line.
