WePlay! urge betting organizations to not take bets on WeSave! Charity Play

Later today WePlay!’s WeSave! Charity Play event will kick off with some really great online Dota 2 action for us to witness. The event will act as a way to aid efforts toward battling the containment and spread of the COVID-19 virus and the organizers have released a special plea to betting companies.

As most of us remain either on lockdown or severely distancing
ourselves from social contact, WePlay! organized a Dota 2 event which will feature
24 of the best teams from around the globe playing an online tournament over
the next six days. The prize pool for the event, $120,000, plus any money
gained through donations throughout the event period are set to go to two separate
organizations which are currently fighting toward aiding the world with the
COVID-19 pandemic. With that in mind, WePlay! have asked that all betting
companies DO NOT accept bets on matches within this event.

In their post on their website and Twitter, which can be
seen above, WePlay!’s Oleg Krot and Yuri Lazebnikov had the following plea to
aid them in keeping the funds to help with the pandemic,

We appeal to all betting companies not to accept bets on matches of the WeSave! Charity Play tournament, if you do not plan to add funds earned from them to the contributions we collect. For our part, we guarantee the transparency of the transfer of funds to the CEPI and GlobalGiving funds for the fight against coronavirus.”

It is hopeful that this plea reaches those in the betting companies and those who are likely to bet on games too, as everyone around the globe is being affected by the COVID-19 virus in one way or another. With so much epic Dota 2 action coming our way this weekend and into next week too, we’re looking forward to the WeSave! Charity Play event and seeing what the community can do to help.
