Where are the driveable cars in Fortnite Chapter 2 – Season 3?

One of the most exciting aspects of the Fortnite Chapter 2 – Season 3 trailer was the inclusion of driveable cars. From muscle cars to pickup trucks, it seemed like a wide variety of vehicles would be driveable in Season 3. However, upon playing the update and exploring the map, no vehicles were found. Epic Games doesn’t usually tease content that isn’t readily available, so where are the cars in Fortnite Season 3?

      Fortnite vehicles coming soon

As many players quickly figured out, the cars in Fortnite are coming at a later date. We’re not sure exactly when, but the trailer confirms that vehicles are coming soon. Like the Helicopters in Season 2, players may have to wait for a couple of updates before Epic releases them.

According to the developers, the Fortnite map will feature a tide system. This means that the water you see on the map now will eventually retreat back into the surrounding ocean. Epic has stated that once this happens, new locations and content will become available.

Of course, by new content, Epic means vehicles, among other things. Though this is somewhat vague, the explanation does make sense. It wouldn’t be practical to include a wide array of vehicles if the Fortnite map is 30-35% water. There would be nowhere to drive to, and it would lessen the thrill of new features like riding sharks.

When the tides do pull back and vehicles are implemented, players should expect to find multiple kinds of cars scattered around the island. We saw the racing cars, pickup truck, and 18-wheeler in the Season 3 Battle Pass trailer, but Epic could release more once the update is ready.

Presumably, the developers will wait a few weeks or more to release the cars. This will give players enough time to enjoy Season 3 in its current state.
