Twitch has enacted a ban on Gonzalo “ZeRo” Barrios, preventing him from streaming on the platform. While Twitch has not made an official statement regarding the decision, the ban is presumably permanent.

ZeRo was one of many Smash community members to face sexual misconduct allegations in the past month. Previously, ZeRo confessed to multiple accounts of sexual harassment, largely involving inappropriate behavior with minors. At that time, ZeRo expressed his intention to stop attending Smash tournaments and to halt his YouTube content production.
ZeRo’s former sponsor, Tempo, severed all ties with him in response to the allegations. However, the organization did commit to providing ZeRo with professional support to help him grow as a person. This Twitch ban is the latest punishment to fall on ZeRo as a result of his previous actions.
In practice, the Twitch ban will likely have little effect on ZeRo. He previously signed a deal with Facebook Gaming, and streamed exclusively on that platform before accusations came out against him. Nevertheless, the Twitch ban is a statement against acts of sexual harassment if nothing else.
ZeRo banned from Twitch
Presumably, ZeRo is just the first of multiple Smash streamers who will receive bans from Twitch. In June, Twitch issued a statement in response to widespread sexual misconduct allegations, saying it had “prioritized the most severe cases and will begin issuing permanent suspensions.” Currently, several streamers’ Twitch channels remain intact despite the allegations levied against them. Such streamers include Nairoby “Nairo” Quezada, Jason “ANTi” Bates, Cinnamon “Cinnpie” Dunson, and more.
Interestingly, Cinnpie’s stream has recently caused trouble for another Smasher, despite her inactivity. Jestise “MVD” Negron has received criticism because Cinnpie’s stream automatically hosts his stream, something which he is unable to control. As it stands, it is unclear if or when the other accused Twitch streamers will be banned like ZeRo.
