The Witcher: Monster Slayer opens up early registration for Android players

The Witcher: Monster Slayer is a game similar to Pokémon Go, except instead of dealing with friendly pocket monsters, players face off against a much deadlier and murderous monster variety. Android players can pre-register for the game’s soft launch now on the official Witcher website, which can grant them early access to Monster Slayer.

At the end of April, a number of players will be able to download the game a little early in a technical soft-launch for Google Play. The game takes place before the era of Geralt of Rivia, so it doesn’t require a huge understanding of the books, video games, or Netflix adaptation. There will still be stories and quests in the game, similar to the mainline RPG systems, for those who are looking for that fantasy lore.

Witchers use the augmented-reality exploration elements of the game to walk around their real life neighborhoods, encountering fantasy beasts and enemies with RPG-inspired combat. Between battles, players can brew potions, craft bombs, and admire their trophies.

The Witcher: Monster Slayer is due to release later this year on Android and iOS with a free-to-play model.
