343 Industries has revealed it will be expanding on its work with nonprofit organization Limbitless Solutions. The studio has helped create two new Halo-themed sleeves that the organization will create and give to children with limb differences before teaching them how to use their new arms using a variety of different methods and tools.
343 has been working with Limbitless Solutions since 2018, providing the nonprofit Halo designs that can then be turned into prosthetics. Revealed via a new blog post (thanks, Kotaku) was the news that the two entities have been working together again to create two brand new sleeves for Limbitless Solutions' Halo options.
“Two new sleeves are being added to the repertoire: one based off the new armor of the Master Chief displayed in Halo Infinite, and the other based off the armor of Halo: Reach Spartan Catherine-B320,” the blog reads. The latter is particularly special as Catherine, perhaps better known as Kat to Halo fans, was the first character in the series to have a prosthetic limb. Limb different kids can now have that arm themselves thanks to 343's new sleeve design.
“Our team cannot wait for children to proudly show these new bionic designs to their friends in their classrooms or on the playground,” co-founder of Limbitless Solutions Albert Manero says. The nonprofit doesn't charge anything for its prosthetics and teaches “bionic kids” how to use them using things like interactive games. Other studios have helped Limbitless Solutions to create Assassin's Creed and Cyberpunk 2077 prosthetics in the past.
Halo news has been a little thin on the ground lately due to a lack of major updates regarding Infinite. Players are still waiting for its Forge mode to arrive, the open beta for which will reportedly be here at some point in November. Despite not being readily available, some players have already been accessing and using Forge to recreate Mario Kart and scenes from Squid Game within the Halo universe. Filming for the second season of the Halo TV show has also already begun.
