Amazon is taking on Xbox and Playstation with it’s own game streaming service.
The online Luna service will allow you to play games over the web using an Xbox-style controller but without the need for a console at all.
Where the Xbox Series X and Playstation 5 will set you back £450 each this winter, Luna allows you to access games instantly through it’s web ‘channels’ using your old iPad, mobile phone or even your telly set.
You’ll simply use a special app on a web browser to log in, pick your title from a Netflix-style menu and play the game over the net direct from Amazon’s servers.
The platform has yet to confirm an official launch date but it will reportedly be available via the firm’s Fire TV plug-in sticks and cubes, PC, and Mac as well as iOS and Android devices.
American customers can already request early access to trail the new $5.99-a-month instant games service with Britain likely to follow soon.
Amazon said of Luna: “No waiting for lengthy downloads or updates – just play.”

Marc Whitten, vice president of Amazon Entertainment Devices and Services, added: “We created Luna to make it easy to play great games on the devices customers already own and love.
“It’s day one for Luna-we are excited to work with gamers, streamers, and publishers like Ubisoft and Remedy Entertainment to build a great gaming experience for everyone.”
Games being touted for the new service include the likes of Resident Evil 7, Control, Sonic and Assassin’s Creed.
Chris Early, of big game maker Ubisoft, said: “We’re proud to be working alongside Amazon on Luna, utilising the power of cloud gaming to provide our players with another way to access our games, wherever they are.
“[Our] channel on Luna will allow players to experience our new releases along with many of our catalogue games, while enjoying player-friendly features like Alexa and Twitch integrations.”
