It has been almost a year since it was first revealed that Amy Hennig is working on a Marvel game. Later today, Disney has confirmed fans will get their first look at what that game actually is. Ahead of that, some key details appear to have leaked claiming the game will center around Captain America and Black Panther and be set during World War 2.
The potential reveal slightly ahead of time comes courtesy of MCU Status (via Eurogamer). The leak claims Cap' and Black Panther will join forces to take on Hydra, and that they will be doing it in the 1940s during WW2. The makings for a pretty unique Marvel game if accurate, and fans will find out for sure later today at Disney's gaming showcase.
It was revealed last October that Hennig's new studio Skydance Media was working with Marvel on an all-new game. However, until now, exactly what that game is going to include and which corners of the Marvel universe it will pull from have been kept under wraps. Disney revealed it will be an ensemble game when it confirmed fans will get a sneak peek of it during today's showcase.
The prior reveal that the game will include more than one hero lines up with today's Captain America and Black Panther team-up rumors. That Black Panther might be a key hero in the game is quite surprising though. EA is rumored to be working on a Marvel game of its own with Black Panther as its focus. Both games can exist at the same time, of course, especially since Hennig's project appears to be a lot further along than EA's.
Disney has hinted at a number of other projects that will be showcased this evening. Dreamlight Valley since it launched this week, and also news about Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Midnight Suns will also be making an appearance following its delay, and it seems likely Spider-Man 2 might appear on the anniversary of its reveal.
