Elden Ring has been one of the best games released in 2022 so far. The game managed to keep the Soulsborne experience intact while delivering a great gameplay experience. Since it is available on PC as well, it was only a matter of time before modders took over and created mods that the community could enjoy. Now, one of them is working on a VR mod for the game, and it looks awesome.
The mod is being developed by Luke Ross, who is a well-known name in the modding community. He has also worked on R.E.A.L VR mods for Cyberpunk 2077 and Red Dead Redemption 2.
In a conversation with PC Gamer, he revealed that the mod will allow players to play in third-person and first-person as well. However, he doesn’t endorse playing in third-person because he feels "Third-person in this game is really far away (about 5 meters on average) and that doesn't work very well in VR”. He also uploaded a video that gave us a short glimpse of what the mod will look like. Check out the video below:
Furthermore, Ross also mentioned how this VR mod will deal with the potential motion sickness problem considering the ungodly amount of rolling a player does in the game. "When rolling or performing other scripted animations like the combat moves, the camera follows the character's head (so its position changes) but it remains oriented correctly according to what your head is doing in real life. So the horizon will stay level and the world will always look stable." Additionally, he also mentioned that this mod works best for people already well-versed with VR games.
So far, the community has already seen a bunch of great mods for the game. From one that summons the legend ‘Let Me Solo Her’, to the 'Easy Mode' mod that makes the gameplay experience less painful, there are some great options to choose from. There is also one that removes the blinding Bandai Namco logo at the beginning to save your eyesight.
While these mods are great, the VR mod will definitely be a game-changer, as it will let players experience an already amazing game from an entirely different perspective. It will be available on his Patreon ‘R.E.A.L VR’.
