Andrew Garfield has said that he'd return to play Spider-Man "if it felt right".
Despite having a fairly rocky career as Spider-Man thanks to two less-than-positively received films, audiences were happy to see Andrew Garfield jump back into the red and blue spandex for Spider-Man: No Way Home. Although his appearance was a poorly kept secret, thankfully, Garfield has now broken his silence on his role in No Way Home.
A new interview between Andrew Garfield and Variety sees the actor talking about what it was like to work with Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire, how he improvised one of the film's funniest scenes, and what it was like to be the one that got to save MJ from falling. As you'd expect, he was also asked about whether he'd return to Spider-Man again.
In response, he said, "I mean, yes, definitely open to something if it felt right. Peter and Spider-Man, those characters are all about service, to the greater good and the many. He’s a working-class boy from Queens that knows struggle and loss and is deeply empathetic. I would try to borrow Peter Parker’s ethical framework in that, if there was an opportunity to step back in and tell more of that story, I would have to feel very sure and certain in myself."
This answer comes just a few weeks after rumours started emerging that Sony was looking to get Garfield to return for a third Amazing Spider-Man movie and that there were plans for him to go up against Tom Hardy's Venom and The Sinister Six. Although that hasn't been confirmed by either Sony or Garfield, it looks like he'd be interested in the role.
Whether a third film gets made or not, It's a happy ending for those who have been keeping up with Andrew Garfield's Amazing Spider-Man saga, as the actor previously said that playing Spider-Man made him "heartbroken" following the negative reception and arguments with Sony regarding future films.
