Anvil Saga is a blacksmith management sim, where you take on the role of Arthur, a simple blacksmith living in France during the Hundred Years' War. As a management game, there are a lot of things that you need to keep track of, which can be hard if you are new to Anvil Saga.
In this guide, we are going to go over some of the most important beginner tips to help you get started.
Anvil Saga is currently in Early Access on Steam and as such, the content is subject to change. We will update these articles as required.
Pay Attention To Relevant Skill Level
Early on in the game, you will get your first worker. This worker can do everything that Arthur can, but you should delegate tasks based on skill level. For example, you can use your first worker to mine. Over time, the worker will increase his mining skill, allowing them to carry more ore at the same time.
With a high mining skills, this worker will naturally become the best miner, but they may not be the best at fulfilling orders. In this situation, the worker is the ideal miner, while Arthur can craft items for customers.
Overall, be sure that whoever is doing a task is proficient enough.
Keep The Stall Open
Your stall is very important; from it, you can earn money and fame. The stall should be open as much as possible so you can maximize profits. Additionally, when the stall is open, you will earn fame for successfully completing orders. When the stall is closed for long periods of time, you may begin to lose fame.
Mining, Mining, Mining
Workers can be sent into the mine to gather ore, which can then be smelted. Although mining for ore may take a while, it's an essential task. It's important to always have ore on reserve so you can smelt it into ingots.
For example, if the stall is open and you run out of ingots while completing orders, you can simply smelt more. If, on the other hand, you run out of ore, you will need to close the stall and send a worker down instead of continuing to profit.
Smelting Ore Into Ingots
Smelting your ore into ingots goes hand in hand with mining. With enough ingots, you can complete orders in no time, without keeping customers waiting.
From time to time, you may also receive special orders from customers. These orders can be received even if your stall is closed. In general, the time limit for these orders is a bit longer, but if you have no ingots, then they can be quite difficult to fulfill. In this situation, it would be helpful to have a supply of ingots that are ready to be crafted.
You can quickly fulfill the order and receive a large payment for your work as well.
Keep Your Workers Fed
Workers can get hungry, so it's important to keep them well fed. Food can be purchased from the shop menu and will be delivered after a short period of time. From here, you can direct a worker to the kitchen to prepare a meal that will then be set on the nearest table. After the meal is done, you can send another worker to eat it. Be careful though; if the food sits on the table too long it can rot, which will harm the worker who eats it.
If your worker's hunger gets too high, they may starve, which is not good. Fortunately, if you have food available, workers will automatically start to make a meal if they are hungry enough. We recommend always having a supply of ingredients in your kitchen so you can quickly make a meal whenever someone is hungry.
Pay Your Workers
Much like real life, your workers need to be paid. Aside from Arthur, workers expect you to give them money at the end of every day. If you do not pay your workers, they may leave.
Always try to have a little bit of money on hand for this situation. For example, if you have around 60 gold and decide to upgrade a portion of your house, you may be left with no gold to play your workers.
Every Choice Matters!
There are dozens of choices that you can make in Anvil Saga that will affect the future. For example, at one point, you will be able to side with England or France (or the Bandits, if you prefer). Whoever you choose to side with will affect future events. If you choose to side with England but have a French worker, they may decide to quit. Keep this in mind when you accept special orders or need to make a decision.
