Attack On Titan VR: Unbreakable Arrives Next Summer on Meta Quest 2

Based on Hajime Isayama’s popular manga series, Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable arrives next Summer on Meta Quest 2.

Announced during the Upload VR 2022 Winter Showcase, Unbreakable is in development at UNIVRS, who previously brought us Be The Hero and Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing. Revealed today through a teaser trailer, there’s no gameplay footage just yet, but you can watch it in full here:

Set in a post-apocalyptic world, Attack on Titan follows the story of Eren Jaeger, who witnesses his mother’s death by the Titans. Seeking vengeance, he joins the Survey Corps to fight Titans. While it’s unclear how Unbreakable fits into Attack on Titan’s universe, UNIVRS released this outline:

In Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable, players are tasked with taking on unique missions as members of the Scout Regiment. Players will discover a wide range of weapons to plan their battle strategy and cut down the titan population. As players progress, the battle difficulty will increase. Only players with determination and skill critical in making it through to the final battle will survive.

Furthermore, Unbreakable will include single player and co-op modes. While co-op details remain unannounced, UNIVRS confirms solo players will fight to regain control of the city, killing Titans one by one. Japanese language support will be available, alongside an English dub and subtitles.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the popular series in VR. In 2018, Sony Music Communications and Taito collaborated on an official Attack on Titan VR attraction in Tokyo, based directly off a chapter from the original manga. Supporting four-player co-op, you’re tasked with taking down the Female Titan, though unfortunately, this never received a wider release.

Still, it won’t long before fans can join the Scout Regiment at home. Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable releases on Meta Quest 2 in Summer 2023.
