The producer behind such stunning successes on the small screen as Game of Thrones and The Sopranos, HBO, recently released a preview trailer for Episode 3 of its ongoing television adaptation of the landmark video game The Last of Us. The teaser for this upcoming episode introduces two new characters, Bill and Frank, who are survivalists living entirely alone within their isolated town in the post-pandemic world.
Bill is played by Nick Offerman, mostly known for his role as Ron Swanson in Parks and Recreation. Frank on the other hand is played by Murray Bartlett from the hit television series The White Lotus. The two characters basically team up to try and make it through the ongoing outbreak of the Cordyceps virus.
Based on the eponymous PlayStation games by developer Naughty Dog, The Last of Us follows Pedro Pascal as a smuggler named Joel and Bella Ramsey as the character Ellie, a 14 year old refugee who could very well hold the key to finding a cure for the deadly disease. The Last of Us was produced and written by Craig Mazin, primarily known for having worked on the series Chernobyl. President at Naughty Dog Neil Druckmann who provided both writing and direction for the game series was involved in the process of production as well, taking on the role of executive producer. The television adaptation covers the events of the game and its expansion, Left Behind.
The Last of Us premiered earlier this month and has received positive reviews from both critics and viewers. The most recent episode, Infected, came out on January 22, 2023. Episode 3 is going to be released on January 29.
The series appears to have provided a substantial boost for sales of The Last of Us Part 1, at least according to the latest UK Boxed Charts to be released. The recent premiere of the eponymous television series appears to be responsible for this sudden spike, causing the figures to rise by no less than 238 percent since last week.
