Leaked audio from the Zombies Royale game in Black Ops Cold War has revealed a lot of surprising details — including new zombie-related objectives.
The Call of Duty community is brimming with leakers, insiders, and lore fans who have been providing the world with behind-the-scenes views at what is going to be in the game. We’ve known for a while, for example, that Cold War is going to come with a zombies game thanks to these leakers. A month ago, we reported that Zombies Royale was going to be a game variant that would pit survivors against zombies. We were even able to report that zombies could become human again if they consumed the hearts of the fallen.
Today, there is more evidence that this is indeed what is going to be happening in Zombies Royale. Leaked audio has surfaced on Reddit which help explain how Zombies Royale is going to work. The audio files are a series of short dialogue lines that will, presumably, be used in the final version of the game. Some of these explain objectives, like “Chopper is down, fight your way out,” while others explain game mechanics like, “Consume the remains of the dead to regain your humanity.”
It appears that Zombies Royale is going to be far more than a simple deathmatch game. The dialogue indicates that there will be an escape objective that humans will have to accomplish, while the zombies will be tasked with stopping those humans. We don’t yet know how this will tie into the story of Warzone—which is allegedly going to be the nexus of Call of Duty games—but we do know that it is probably going to fit in somehow.
Either way, it looks like Treyarch is taking notes from the wildly popular game Left 4 Dead, which also saw a group of survivors attempting to reach objectives while zombie players tried to stop them. So far, though, we don’t have any evidence that the zombies in Cold War will have special powers or abilities— at least not outside of the gas. Regardless, the sheer scale and semi-open world setting of Verdansk is going to make the experience unique—especially if there is a night mode.
