Warcraft 3: Reforged could be getting a "soft relaunch" with a bunch of fan-requested features. This comes as Blizzard sends out a survey to fans, asking for their opinion on the game and even gauging views on a potential rerelease.
It follows Warcraft 3: Reforged's disastrous launch back in January 2020, as it lacked many expected features and suffered from bugs and performance issues not found in the original. Many felt that the remaster both looked and played worse, prompting many to find ways to play the 2002 Warcraft 3, rather than the update that replaced it.
This survey, as reported by Warcraft Tavern, asks fans who have both played and skipped Warcraft 3 for their thoughts on a potential "soft relaunch". If they did play, the fan is asked how often they pick it up, and what content they would like to see added. If they gave it a miss, they're instead asked what would bring them back, and why they didn't play the game in the first place.
In another section of the survey, Blizzard lists a bunch of features that would potentially appear in a Warcraft 3 update or rerelease. Perhaps one of the most exciting new features pitched here is a return of classic Warcraft 3 in-game art, as well as a UI overhaul. On top of that, Blizzard includes storage size reductions, campaign improvements, and an environmental art rework.
It remains to be seen if this is enough to win back frustrated fans, but bringing back some 2002 charm would likely help with that. Giving players the option to toggle some of the Reforged "improvements" on and off would also probably go a long way too.
It seems that Blizzard is yet to comment on this news publicly, so you'll have to keep an eye on your inbox to have a say for yourself. In the meantime, there is a new patch for Warcraft 3, adding custom campaigns, map pool updates, and more.
