A Call of Duty insider seems to be hinting that Valderas Museum might be added back to Modern Warfare 2 at some point in the near future, after it was removed during the game's beta for its resemblance to a real-world location.
Back before Modern Warfare 2 launched, Infinity Ward let players give the multiplayer portion of the game a test drive with an open beta. One of the main maps advertised alongside the beta was Valderas Museum, which was clearly based on the Getty Museum in Los Angeles. Seemingly because of this similarity, Infinity Ward ended up removing the map from the game altogether, meaning it was only briefly playable during the open beta period.
Since Valderas Museum was removed, Infinity Ward has said nothing about it potentially making a comeback somehow, which led to many pressing F to pay their respects to the fallen hero. However, it seems like the map could be added back to the game sometime soon, at least if a Call of Duty insider's hints are to be believed.
Yesterday, Call of Duty insider CharlieIntel shared an image of the Valderas Museum loading screen image out of nowhere, with no context or additional comments. When a Twitter user jokingly said "imagine this gets added into Season 2 as 'new' content", CharlieIntel replied to with the emoji of a monkey holding its mouth, which seems to imply that's exactly what's going to happen.
CharlieIntel has been reliable when it comes to Call of Duty leaks, so it seems like Valderas Museum might find its way back into the game during its second season. If that's the case, it's likely to have had some pretty significant changes made to make sure it doesn't still resemble the Getty Museum. Still, considering how popular the map was during the open beta (and how hated some of Modern Warfare 2's other maps are), it'll be good to see it return in any form.
