Cloud Strife Mod Was Too Hot For Some, So It Got Even Hotter

Whenever a console game is ported to PC, its fans get the opportunity to completely reimagine the world and those who call it home thanks to mods. Final Fantasy 7 Remake was ported to PC at the end of 2021, and as soon as the game launched, modders got to work. Something that was evidently needed in this instance as a fair few of those who played the port early on labeled it a pretty terrible version of the game.

As well as fixing the game, modders have also been having fun with it. Cloud has been the subject of a lot of mods, most of which change the protagonist's appearance. A mod courtesy of Juijub, highlighted by Kotaku and available to download right now through NexusMods, makes Cloud look infinitely cooler by giving him a leather jacket. It also makes him look infinitely hotter as that leather jacket comes with the tightest black crop top Midgar has ever seen.

Turns out not everyone playing FF7 Remake on PC wants their Cloud to be sexy, but they do want him to be cool. A number of people who almost like the mod but not quite have requested Juijub change it so Cloud is still wearing the jacket, but his rock-hard abs are covered up. Juijub has listened to those requests, gone back to the drawing board, and returned with something new.

Rather than bring Cloud's top all the way down to his hips, the mod's 1.1 update simply adds a tattoo to Cloud's waistline. Credit where it's due to Juijub, the tattoo does cover up some of Cloud's stomach, but it's probably not what its detractors had in mind. Juijub knows that all too well, writing “his stomach's covered now” complete with a smiley face in the update's notes.

If a leather-clad Cloud with a tummy tattoo isn't for you, there are plenty of other looks you can give Mr. Strife via the array of mods available for FF7 Remake. There's one that turns Midgar's hero into Gotham's Clown Prince Of Crime, and another that allows him to wear his Honeybee Inn dress for the entire game. Cloud in a frock makes some of the game's more intense battles very different indeed.
