Co-Op Action Game Babylon’s Fall Is Launching March 2022

Babylon's Fall, the highly anticipated co-op action RPG developed by Platinum Games and published by Square Enix, has finally had its release date announced at The Game Awards, and it's closer than you might think. Babylon's Fall will be launching on March 3 next year, just three months away. However, those who pre-order the digital deluxe version of the game will be able to play the game a few days earlier on February 28.

Babylon's Fall is being developed by Platinum Games, most well-known for Nier Automata and the Bayonetta series. Just like those games, Babylon's Fall also features a fluid combat system that integrates co-op partners seamlessly, complete with powerful weapons and unique abilities. The game can be played solo or in parties up to four, although be aware you'll need a free Square Enix account in order to play online.

Square Enix has also promised that Babylon's Fall will receive plenty of support and new content after launch. According to the publisher, new game modes, story content, and weapon types will be released at some point after launch and will be available at no extra cost. Being primarily a multiplayer game, it's nice to see more reasons to keep playing Babylon's Fall long after the final credits roll.

Not much is known about the general plot of Babylon's Fall, but we do know that the game follows a group of warriors known as "sentinels" who have been bonded together with special equipment called Gideon Coffins. Together, these warriors go on a journey to overcome the Tower of Babylon, an enormous structure in which sleeps a "great legacy".

Babylon's Fall was first revealed way back in December 2019 during one of Sony's State of Play showcases. Since then, subsequent reveals have had fans concerned over the game's strangely blurry yet intentional art style. Thankfully, Platinum Games has recently assured fans that development on Babylon's Fall is going well, so much so that the game will be on store shelves early next year.
