Days Gone has finally arrived on PC today, and it looks like Bend Studio’s bikers-vs-zombies open-world title might be the one the players needed right now. So far, the game landed on number one in the global bestseller list on Steam, outperforming recent sensations like Mass Effect Legendary Edition and Resident Evil Village.
This May is nothing but generous for triple-A games of all kinds, and players can pick a title for their own taste. Days Gone stands out not only as a former PS4-exclusive game but as the largest-scale open-world project since Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. And there is always a strong demand for such titles among PC players.
Surprising no one, just prior to Days Gone’s launch, the game occupied the top spot on Steam global bestseller list. The case was brought to attention by independent video game analyst Benji-Sales on Twitter, who wrote “it’s curious to see how the title will perform on the new platform overall.” For now, the exact sales figures for Days Gone on PC are unknown.
In addition, the first wave of players seem to enjoy the title. Days Gone currently holds very positive reviews from several hundreds of buyers. Though, it’s difficult to evaluate a big game such as Days Gone only for its first hours. We’ll see how it fairs after players dive deep into its long story campaign before reaching any conclusions.
When released on PlayStation 4 back in 2019, the game showed pretty decent results for a new IP, while getting mixed reviews from critics. This eventually led to Sony scrapping Days Gone 2’s pitch from the team. Benji-Sales earlier reported Days Gone was the best-selling PS4 exclusive on PSN in 2019 and also made in the Top 10 best-selling digital games of the year.
Days Gone is the second major PlayStation first-party game to launch on Steam after Horizon Zero Dawn last year. Sony’s Jim Ryan earlier said there is “a whole slate” of console games coming to PC in the future, though it’s unknown which titles will lose their exclusivity next.
Days Gone is already available on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. You can read our TheGamer review here.
