Dead Space fans think that Isaac Clarke might be wearing the severed head and body parts of his wife Nicole when wearing the Lone Survivor suit.
As you make your way through Dead Space, you'll find yourself able to upgrade Isaac's default suit to add more armour plates and give him more protection against the Necromorphs. If you bought the digital deluxe edition of the game, however, you'll also be able to pick between a few unique suits, including a bloody one, a more militaristic one, and even one that shows an infected Isaac.
The most unique out of all the outfits is the Lone Survivor suit, which makes Isaac look a lot more post-apocalyptic and has him wearing a necklace made out of dismembered fingers and ears, antlers made out of hands, and even a head on his belt. That's creepy enough, but YouTuber Ben-Gun has found a detail that makes the whole thing even grimmer.
As they point out in a YouTube video, the head on Isaac's belt actually has some writing on it. As you explore the Ishimura, you can occasionally see scribbles on the walls, with one particular doodle in a bathroom showing the Necromorph language. By matching that up with the writing on the head, you can see that it actually reads "Nicole". Uh… you alright, Isaac?
There are several implications for this. The creepiest is that Isaac is fully under the Marker's control and the severed body parts that are all on his new suit are actually Nicole's, hence the name on the head. It's creepy as hell and fits Dead Space, so this is my personal headcanon. Geddit?
The much more tame possibility is that the body parts are just random bits and bobs from Necromorphs around the ship, and that Isaac has painted a name on the head simply to remind him what he's fighting for, almost like Wilson from Castaway. That's still pretty bloody grim, but unarguably a slightly happier ending than above.
Since the head is pretty messed up, there's no way to know for sure whether it belongs to Nicole, but it's an interesting theory and a great little detail for one of the most unique suits in the game.
