The question of where Xur is this week will be answered very soon for gamers across PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC.

And it follows a flurry of news from Bungie regarding how the game’s next Destiny 2 update will function.

Having revealed that a new 30th Anniversary Pack is being launched for Destiny 2 next month, the development team behind the hit shooter has also been sharing its limitations.

This included an update regarding the crossplay implications for the new DLC, which will be limited to just one platform per purchase.

A message from Bungie explains: “The 30th Anniversary Pack, launching on December 7, 2021, will function as DLC (such as Beyond Light or Shadowkeep) and not as Seasonal content. DLC licenses do not transfer between platforms with Cross-Save like Seasons do.

“This means that the 30th Anniversary Pack will be accessible exclusively on the platform it was purchased regardless of Cross-Save setup. Players will need to purchase the 30th Anniversary Pack on each platform they intend to access it on.”

The good news is that while there will be some disappointing crossplay issues for the 30th Anniversary, none of that will affect the return of Xur.

Plenty of new exotic weapons and legendary armour pieces will be available to check out when the elusive merchant makes his return later today.

Xur will be back in the game between 5pm and 6pm GMT, but Bungie will not reveal his final location. Instead, Guardians will need to scope out all of his normal haunts, including the EDZ, The Tower and Nessus.

A full report of what new exotics are available to buy will be shared within a few minutes of his return.

Destiny 2: Bungie release trailer for 'Beyond Light' expansion

Last week, Xur was selling Fighting Lion for 29 Legendary Shards, Young Ahamkara’s Spine for 23 Legendary Shards, Ursa Furiosa for 23 Legendary Shards, and Aeon Soul for 23.

For those who are new to Destiny, the Legendary Shards used by Xur are remnants of powerful items used to improve gear or trade for other stuff.

It should also be noted that Xur will be dropping items similar in power level to your character. And another part of Xur that is new to the latest version of Destiny 2 is that he now drops Cipher Quests for free.

The Quest will reward you with an exotic Cipher, and last week included completing 21 Strikes or winning the same number of Crucible or Gambit matches.

Every week, Guardians can acquire one Exotic Engram using Legendary Shards that will decrypt as Exotics that aren’t already in your collection.
