BioWare is kicking off the new year with a new piece of Dragon Age 4 concept art and fans are hopeful the archer character is playable.
After being quiet about it for so long, it looks as if BioWare is now ready to be a bit more open about Dragon Age 4.
A new CGI story trailer was shown at The Game Awards 2020 last month and, more recently, executive producer Christian Dailey took to Twitter to share a new piece of concept art.
‘Here’s to new beginnings,’ he wrote, with the art depicting what appears to be a wholly new character: an armour-clad archer armed with a magical bow and arrow.
Naturally, the comments are full of discussions over whether the archer is a playable class or a companion character. Some are already wondering if the archer will be a romance option.
The fact that the character looks like they could be a combination of a mage and archer has gone down well with some fans for how unique it is.
Some, however, aren’t as impressed with the design, saying that it doesn’t resemble the Dragon Age art style anymore and looks similar to something like Destiny.
There are also several comments asking about updates for Anthem, even though Dailey is no longer working on it.
While there is plenty of excitement still surrounding Dragon Age 4 (which technically isn’t even the official name of the game), there is also some anxiety considering recent developments at BioWare.
In early December, general manager Casey Hudson and Dragon Age’s executive producer Mark Darrah left the studio, with no real explanation as to why.
Dragon Age 4 is currently in development with no scheduled release date.
