For the people in Villedor, nighttime comes with its own sets of problems. Not only the streets are bustling with infected during the night, but everyone in the city is infected with the Harran Virus, so going out at night is a lottery.

A huge part of Dying Light 2 gameplay is finding ways to stay human during the night (or in areas without sunlight). To help you out with that, this guide includes everything you need to know about Aiden's immunity and how to take care of it.

What Are Immunity Levels

After completing the "Markers of Plague" main quest, you'll be able to track Aiden's disease progression with the Biomarker. This device is attached to the person's vein by an elastic needle and has diodes on the outside that change from green to red depending on the phase of the infection.

When someone's infection is under control, their immunity is high, and their Biomarker will have a green glow. However, if the infection progresses, immunity levels will go down until the person turns into a zombie.

You can easily track Aiden's immunity levels by checking the top center of the screen. This tracker shows up every time you traverse the city at night or go inside an area with no sunlight. The Biomarker will start beeping to alert you when the immunity level gets low, and a countdown will begin.

How To Keep Your Immunity Up

Since the Harran virus is susceptible to light, the disease won't progress during the day. You'll have to use the methods listed below to keep Aiden's immunity levels up at night.

Keep in mind that exposing Aiden to the light will only stop the disease progression but not cure it.

Consuming UV Shroomz

UV Shroomz are special mushrooms scattered throughout Villedor (they seem to be more common in the Old Villedor map). You will usually find them in Roof Grooves, alongside other useful consumables like honey or chamomile. These mushrooms are easy to identify because they're blue and glow at night.

Once you find some, pick them up, and they'll show in the same inventory slot where medicine is. Upon consuming them, UV shroomz will only restore a little of Aiden's immunity, so you might need more than one to get out of the woods.

Using Immunity Boosters

Immunity Boosters work similar to UV Shroomz, but they're significantly better as they regenerate a substantial part of your immunity. The higher tier the booster is, the more immunity it will restore.

These boosters are hard to find since they're rare consumables. You usually get them from GRE crates, by looting GRE trailers, or in a vendor's shop.

Going To A Safe Zone

Safe Zones are spots throughout the city where you'll be able to sleep, access Aiden's stash, trade with vendors, and even talk to NPCs to get sidequests. These are also spots where Aiden can respawn if he dies, so you'll want to unlock as many Safe Zones as possible early in the game.

You can unlock Safe Zones by completing quests, activating windmills, assigning a faction to a water or electrical facility, clearing bandit camps, or activating Nightrunners hideouts.

These Safe Zones will always have UV lamps in them. You can use UV lamps to replenish your immunity just by standing next to them.

The nearest place with a UV lamp will be marked on your map during the night.

Using Inhibitors

The first time you get inside Old Villedor's Bazaar, Hakon will save you and give you an inhibitor to stop the transformation. Inhibitors are special consumables that increase Aiden's health or stamina (you'll need three Inhibitors to increase either one of these stats).

While using an inhibitor won't directly affect your immunity levels, it will increase your immunity capacity. This means that every time you increase either your health or stamina, the amount of time you can explore at night before your immunity goes down will increase as well.

There are around 126 Inhibitors in total scattered throughout the game world. Still, you can find between one and four Inhibitors per location.

To find Inhibitors, you need to pay attention to Aiden's locator, as it will beep and announce an Inhibitor container is nearby. You'll also be able to see how far you are from the container in the lower-left corner of the screen.

Avoid THV Chemicals

In 2025, the city was chemically bombed to kill all the infected. Things didn't go according to plan, and the bombs killed hundreds of humans and created special types of infected.

As a result of these bombings, some parts of Villedor are covered in chemical waste (yellow patches of ground you'll easily spot). Do not go into these patches as Aiden's infection will progress in a matter of seconds, turning him almost immediately.
