EA has denied recent claims that it blames Halo Infinite for Battlefield 2042's issues at launch.
It's a bit of a sorry time to be a Battlefield fan. Ever since the game's launch in November, it's seen endless complaints about its gameplay systems, most of its community abandon it in favour of older Battlefield games, and it's even seen developers of some of the most beloved games question what went wrong.
It seems that even EA is a little confused, as it's recently caused some confusion on whether it blames Halo Infinite. Just a few days ago, EA reportedly held a meeting where it discussed everything that went wrong with Battlefield 2042. Within that meeting, it blamed some of Battlefield 2042's development issues on working from home and the sudden launch of Halo Infinite's multiplayer, which was much more polished by comparison.
Although the meeting did reportedly have EA admitting to many of the other problems with 2042, most saw the Halo comment as EA blaming Infinite as one of the reasons for Battlefield 2042's problems, but the publisher has responded to those claims, saying that they don't accurately express the context of the meeting and the things that were discussed within.
As reported by PC Gamer, EA communications VP John Reseburg sent out a statement in response to the claims that EA blames Halo Infinite for some of its issues. The statement reads, "These stories are not accurately capturing the discussion and the context, which was an in-depth and very humble internal conversation about the recent Battlefield launch. It was about key learnings and actions we are taking, not blaming external factors."
It's a little difficult to ascertain how true this statement is considering that there's no transcript from the meeting, with its contents being reported by Xfile. Without direct quotes, it's a bit more open to interpretation based on what Xfile said. Still, it seems that EA isn't wanting to look like it's playing the blame game and instead wants to take responsibility for the state of 2042.
