EA still making multiple Star Wars games, hints at Fallen Order 2

Despite the Lucasfilm Games announcement, EA says that it will continue to make Star Wars games while clearly hinting at more Fallen Order.

The return of the Lucasfilm Games brand is already being warmly received by fans, as it means that other studios besides EA will be able to create their own Star Wars games.

However, just because it no longer has exclusivity doesn’t mean EA will stop making games based on the franchise.

In the official announcement for Ubisoft’s own Star Wars game, Lucasfilm Games clarified that it will continue to partner with EA, while also confirming that a number of projects are already in the works.

‘We will continue working with them and our relationship has never been stronger. While we may not have a lot of details to share at the moment, we’ve got a number of projects underway with the talented teams at EA.’

No doubt one of those projects is the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. As while it hasn’t technically been announced yet, a report from February very much suggests it is a thing.

More recently, EA itself seems to have hinted at it continuing, with its tweet about continuing to make Star Wars games making a pointed reference to BD-1, Fallen Order’s droid companion.

Thanks to the fiasco surrounding the launch of Star Wars Battlefront 2 some fans were outright celebrating the fact that EA lost the exclusive rights.

But Fallen Order and Star Wars: Squadrons have been much more warmly received and even Battlefront 2 managed to redeem itself with subsequent updates.

As for what Ubisoft is working on, new job listings for the project do suggest that it will have elements from role-playing games and shooters, which make it sound like the Star Wars version of The Division.
