Escape Academy is a fantastic game that I’ve been meaning to play for a long time. Thankfully, the release of the Escape Academy Complete Edition is the perfect excuse to wax lyrical about this awesome puzzle adventure. Currently available for the discounted price of £24.29 on Nintendo Switch, the latest Escape Academy port bundles together the core game with both post-release expansion packs.
This includes the Anti-Escape Island DLC, as well as the Escape From the Past expansion pack.
Developer IAm8Bit explains more: “You’ve just arrived at Escape Academy, a school where promising students train to become the ultimate Escapist.
“Explore the campus of Escape Academy and get to know the faculty, a colourful cast of characters, each an expert in the art of Escape. And some with secrets yet to be uncovered…”
The game essentially tasks players with solving a series of masterful escape rooms that are packed with fiendish puzzles.
Just like the real thing, players must work against the clock to solve the puzzles and escape the room, not to mention the additional dangers that come with it.
In one instance you’ll be going from floor to floor attempting to outrun a flood, while another area has players breaking out a hostage and even diffusing a bomb.

The first-person action is simple and intuitive to pick up, but you’ll really have to use your brain to figure out the solutions and put the pieces together.
It’s one of those games where the puzzles are all solveable with a little thinking time and note taking, but you’ll feel really clever when you do figure out the solutions.
It’s a unique game that really captures the magic of the escape room craze, and can even be played co-operatively for a more authentic experience.
The fact that you get the core game and both expansion packs for less than £25 makes Escape Academy Complete Edition feel like a genuine bargain.
The game is also available for PS4, PS5, Xbox and PC, so there’s no excuse not to give this excellent hidden gem a try.
