One of Nintendo’s own shareholders has asked the company whether it’ll release new games or remakes for older properties like F-Zero.
It’s no secret that the F-Zero fanbase is extremely hungry for a new game, especially when you realise there hasn’t been a new entry in nearly 20 years.
So far, Nintendo has done very little to appease those fans outside of the occasional re-release or Super Smash Bros. cameo. Now, though, even its own shareholders are asking for another F-Zero game.
During a recent meeting, one shareholder asked if Nintendo has any plans to release new games or remakes for some of its older franchises.
They gave F-Zero as one such example, but also namedropped Baten Kaitos of all things. We’re not sure whether that one counts since the first game was published by Namco, but the second was published by Nintendo.
Unsurprisingly, Shinya Takahashi, the general manager for Nintendo Entertainment Planning & Development (Nintendo EPD), gave a typically vague answer.
‘Regarding remakes of older titles, we are thinking about a wide range of interesting ways to try new and old things,’ he said, as transcribed by Twitter user NStyles (and translated by VGC).
‘We received a similar question before. At that time, we happened to have a remake planned, so we discussed it, but there are things I cannot say right now.’
Plus, Bandai Namco has been allowed to work on Nintendo’s own properties, like Pokémon, so that could easily be the remaster in question here.
