Bless Unleashed might be getting a second chance at life on consoles, as the game is now in closed beta on PlayStation 4. The MMORPG is currently only available on Xbox One and is scheduled for a PC release later next year.
The closed beta runs until August 24 and will help the developers gauge the title’s performance on Sony’s current-gen system. Bless Unleashed is expected to release on PlayStation 4 by the end of the year. Unfortunately, we’re yet to hear word from Bandai Namco about ports to the Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5.
Upon it’s Xbox release this February, critics found the title to be a standard MMO that didn’t do much to push the genre forward. It was also riddled with bugs and “lacked the technical polish” seen in its peers, relegating it to a short lifespan and a low player population. It’s hard to gauge exactly how many people are still running around Lumios, but its barren subreddit and low ranking on some popular online trackers indicate that it definitely could use a pick-me-up.
Releasing on Xbox One before PC seemed like an odd choice at the time, but Bless Unleashed combat is well suited towards playing with a controller. It’s sad that the promising action-combat system was plagued with glitches, but hopefully it’s revival on PlayStation 4 will do away with these shortcomings.
Bless Unleashed lets players craft their own character in typical MMO fashion before setting off on a quest through the realm of Lumios. There are various dungeons available to test your PvE prowess, as well as a few different forms of PvP – including an optional open-world PvP setup.
Bless Unleashed is a free-to-play title that is currently available on Xbox One, with a planned PlayStation 4 release later this year. A Steam version is also in development, but it won’t arrive until early 2021. The indication is that not much will change between PC and console versions, although the screenshots on Steam certainly look a fair bit nicer than what is on display with Xbox One.
