This week Warner Bros revealed the release date for Gotham Knights, with the action RPG launching for PlayStation and Xbox consoles and PCs on October 25 2022. The news was revealed by the Gotham Knights Twitter in its first post of the year. The @GothamKnights account posted: “Gotham will always need its heroes. Suit up for an all-new adventure on 10.25.22. #GothamKnights”.
Gotham Knights – which is being made by Arkham Origins developer Warner Bros Montreal – looks like a spin-off to Rocksteady’s Batman Arkham series, which takes place in the aftermath of Bruce Wayne’s death.
Players will be able to step into the shoes of Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin or Red Hood who are taking on Batman’s mantle to help get an increasingly lawless Gotham under control.
Gotham Knights was originally meant to launch in 2021 before the Warner Bros Montreal-developed game got delayed till 2022. And earlier this year fans were left worried Gotham Knights could be getting delayed again after it emerged Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad game is getting delayed till 2023.
Thankfully, for fans of the Arkham series that isn’t the case and they will be able to enjoy at least one game Rocksteady-esque game this year.

Earlier trailers for Gotham Knights seemed to hint that Gotham Knights would take place in the aftermath of the events of Arkham Knight.
In the world of Gotham Knights, Bruce Wayne ‘dies’ in the same way that he did in Arkham Knight – i.e during an explosion.
Of course, those that have played Arkham Knight will know that it looks like Batman faked his death at the end of the Rocksteady game.
However, it’s unclear if Gotham Knights will go down a similar route. Warner Bros has said that Gotham Knights is “not connected” to the Arkham series.
Speaking to Comicbook.com previously, Warner Bros Montreal said: “Gotham Knights is an original story set in DC’s Batman Universe and not connected to the Arkham series.”
In case you’re wondering, here is the synopsis for Gotham Knights…
Batman is dead. It is now up to the Batman Family – Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin – to protect Gotham City, bring hope to its citizens, discipline to its cops, and fear to its criminals. You must evolve into the new Dark Knight and save Gotham from chaos. Your legacy begins now. Step into the Knight.
“Gotham Knights is a brand-new open world, third-person action RPG featuring the Batman Family as players step into the roles of Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin, a new guard of trained DC Super Heroes who must rise up as the protectors of Gotham City in the wake of Batman’s death. An expansive, criminal underworld has swept through the streets of Gotham, and it is now up to these new heroes to protect the city, bring hope to its citizens, discipline to its cops and fear to its criminals. Players must save Gotham from descent into chaos and reinvent themselves into their own version of the Dark Knight.”
