Gran Turismo 7 Unveils The Ferrari Vision During The World Series Nations Cup Grand Final

Gran Turismo 7 gets bigger and better as time goes on with Polyphony steadily adding more cars, more race tracks, more cafe menus, and even new features (such as being able to sell cars) to the Sony exclusive. The latest addition was announced during the Gran Turismo World Series 2022 Nations Cup Grand Final with the official unveiling taking place in Monaco where the World Finals event was staged.

The Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo is the sleek new offering. As is common with new cars for the title, the new auto got its own special YouTube video showing it off, which can you view below. Since it is a Vision car don't expect to see it in real life as car manufacturers often like to use Polyphony's signature game series to include designs that wouldn't get past the concept car stage in the real world. Such designs however often do help car designers to experiment and aspects occasionally do make their way into real-world production cars.

"The Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo draws its inspiration from the fascinating world of Ferrari's hugely successful 1960s and '70s sports-prototypes," reads the car's description on the official Gran Turismo website. "Below hyper-modern bodywork and dramatic proportions, the car hides the DNA of masterpieces such as the Ferrari 330 P3 and the 512 S. It is a nod to the past, yet a powerful hint of the future of endurance racing."

The Ferrari Vision GT features an "advanced aerodynamic design" and uses the same engine architecture as the Ferrari 499P. However, there are modifications. Drivers can expect 1,016 bhp at 9,000 rpm but the vehicle can generate an additional 321.5 bhp via three electric motors: one on the rear axle and another two on each of the front wheels.

As for the Gran Turismo World Series Nations Cup, which has been ongoing, it has been a tightly fought contest. Regional winners Takuma Miyazono, Coque Lopez, and Angel Inostroza have all shown their class in the competition, but it was Brazillian driver Igor Fraga who held a points lead, albeit slight, as the contenders went into the Grand Final.

The standings ahead of the Grand Final looked like this (thanks GT Planet):

  1. Igor Fraga – 12 points
  2. Angel Inostroza – 10 points
  3. Ryota Kokubun – 9 points
  4. Valerio Gallo – 9 points
  5. Lucas Bonelli – 8 points
  6. Jose Serrano – 7 points
  7. Baptiste Beauvois – 7 points
  8. Takuma Miyazono – 7 points
  9. Coque Lopez – 6 points
  10. Kylian Drumont – 6 points
  11. Tomoaki Yamanaka – 5 points
  12. Seiya Suzuki – 3 points
  13. Adriano Carrazza – 1 point

Since the Grand Final event sees drivers gaining double points, it was an open field for who could take the overall crown.

The Grand Final event concluded today in Monaco, culminating the Gran Turismo World Series, and it was Coque Lopez who took the championship with a dramatic end to the first live Grand Finals event in three years. Those wanting to watch the Series' finale can find the two-hour forty-one-minute broadcast on the Gran Turismo TV YouTube channel here.
